Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week® recognizes the role of assisted living in America while providing a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance encourages assisted living communities around the country to celebrate the individuals they serve while simultaneously educating members of the public about what assisted living truly looks like.
This year, The Wellington Senior Living is celebrating the 2022 theme of “joyful moments” from September 11th to September 17th by recognizing how each department plays a role in creating joy for our residents and staff members.
Being a leader for a senior community means leading by example, engaging with the residents every day, bringing a smile, and giving a hug of comfort when needed. I also expect all staff to be the bright spot in our residents’ lives, so they enjoy life in the community with us.
Our team creates joyful moments on a regular basis in our community. Being a new community, we’re just getting to know each of the residents and their loved ones by name. We encourage them to engage in happy hour, chair yoga, and other events being held.
When asked what brings the most joy about living at The Wellington Senior Living, Diana Jones stated after much thought, “The residents and staff bring me joy every day.”
We plan to make National Assisted Living Week special in our community. We are having a spirit week with a different theme each day. We are going to select different staff to highlight each day and have them dine with the residents. We also plan for a community trivia that encourages residents to know safety and procedural processes.
Follow us on Facebook to witness all our joyful moments, but especially from September 11th to September 17th as each department celebrates National Assisted Living Week and the many ways each team brings joy to our community staff and residents!
